Boston, MA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Thomas Pock scored with 1:40 left to send the
game into overtime and Henrik Lundqvist stopped 40 shots as the New York Rangers beat the Boston Bruins, 2-1, in a shootout.
Jaromir Jagr tallied an assist and also scored in the shootout for the
Rangers, who have won nine of their last 13 games.
New York tied the game when Jagr forced a turnover and Pock, who gathered the
puck, scored on a wrist shot from the left circle that beat Joey MacDonald to
the stick side.
Marc Savard scored the goal and MacDonald stopped 35 shots for the Bruins, who
have lost seven of their last nine games.
Savard scored on a rebound of Shean Donovan's misfire with 11:54 left in the
second period.
The Bruins had an opportunity to win in overtime after Petr Prucha was
penalized with 1:31 to go for tripping. Lundqvist, however, stood tall and the
game went to a shootout.
Michael Nylander beat MacDonald with a backhand on the Rangers first attempt.
Boston's Marco Sturm was then denied by Lundqvist. New York's Matt Cullen was
turned away before Patrice Bergeron put the disc between Lundqvist's legs to
tie the shootout at 1-1.
Jagr then beat MacDonald through the five hole and Phil Kessel missed wide,
and the Rangers continued to hold the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference
playoff race.

Boston had the first 10 shots on goal...Nylander's assist was his 600 career
NHL point.
